- The King of England granted the Hudson Bay Company a monopoly of trade in Ruperts and they landed on the coast of Husons Bay to set up their first trading post in1670.
- When we join together we will be madly rich forever!
- At first both the First Nations People and the HBC benifitted from the exchange of trade goods and technologies.
- We have to try and force a merger, we are spending too much money and making too little.
- With the Fall of New France, French fur traders were supplanted by British and Anglo-American buisnessmen.

- The Buisness was thriving so some of these companies joined together to start the North West Trading Company.
- In 1821, both the NWC and HBC were under pressure from the British Goverment to merge because both were focused on competing with each other so neither could grow, and becasue of conflicts between the two companies.
- Due to the pressure of battle and legal battle the HBC forced a merger with the NWC. The HBC was older and more established so when the merger happended the HBC had more money and support which caused the NWC to merge into the HBC.
