  • POLYDECTES PLAN
  • PERSEUS SET FORTH
  • THE GIFT
  • Polydectes gathered several pals to supper and asked them what present they would get him if he ever asked for one. Perseus replied that he would deliver the head of Medusa, the Gorgon, to him if required. The King consented and ordered Perseus to bring him the Medusa's head or he would kill his mother.
  • CUT OFF MEDUSA'S HEAD
  • Perseus started on his journey in search of Medusa's head. Obviously, the Gods would not leave Perseus defenseless, given their tendency for interfering in the lives of humans. In order to assist Perseus, both Athena and Hermes set off on their respective missions.
  • PERSEUS MEET ANDROMEDA
  • Perseus received three gifts from Athena and Hermes: winged sandals that allowed him to fly, a bag that let him to carry the Medusa's head, and the helmet of Hades that made him invisible.
  • TURNED INTO STONE
  • Perseus flew above Medusa in his winged sandals, his gaze fixed on the gleaming shield Athena had given him. With the use of Hades' helmet, Perseus was able to see well enough to cut off Medusa's head, put it in a bag, and go back home
  • When he got home, he ran across Andromeda, a girl he'd saved from a monster at sea. They were married after immediately falling in love. Andromeda's uncle, on the other hand, disapproved and devised a scheme to kill Perseus.
  • Perseus benefited much from possessing Medusa's head. Andromeda's uncle turned to stone as soon as he saw the head he had taken out of the body. When Perseus returned home, he confronted Polydectes about his behavior toward Perseus' mother, who had been harassed by this one.
