- The Reign of terror (1793) was a period during the french revolution where people were ratting people out, those who the suspected to be against the revolution. Revolutionists encouraged this, paranoid about people banding together to free the king and halting the revolution. People wanted to gain favor of those around them and incharge, turning in innocent people to be seen as loyal to others.
- Marie Antoinette was executed in 1793, during the reign of terror. People were angry at the royal family for not seeing problems before and not doing anything about it, especially their queen since she was from a foregin land. She was keept in a prison until her execution, paraded through the streets to make a mockery of her and show her how angry people had been.
- Napoleon become the leader of France after helping overthrow the directory, which was the current power at the time. He crowned himself emperor over France and took control over the military, with additional support from the citizens because they believed him to be a good leader. He encouraged religious tolerance and used enlightenment examples to rule.
