  • The cause of alcoholism is still unknown. It develops when you drink so much that chemical changes in the brain occur. These changes increase the pleasurable feelings you get when you drink alcohol. This makes you want to drink more often, even if it causes harm. Alcohol use disorder typically develops gradually over time. It's also known to run in families.
  • Hi everyone, our group is assigned to searched about what alcoholism is. Based on our research, alcoholism or alcohol use disorder occurs when you drink so much that your body eventually becomes dependent on or addicted to alcohol. When this happens, alcohol becomes the most important thing in your life.
  • The known risk factors include having more than 15 drinks per week if you're male, more than 12 drink per week if you're female, more than 5 drinks per day at least once a week, having a parent with alcohol use disorder and a mental health problem such as depression, anxiety or schizoprenia. You may also be at greater risk for it if you are a young adult experiencing peer pressure, have low self - esteem, experience a high level stress, live in a family or culture where alcohol use is common and accepted and having a close relative with alcohol use disorder.
  • Hi everyone, I am the representative of group 2. And I am going to share about the risk factors of alcoholism. Although the exact cause of it is unknown like the other group said, there are certain factors that may increase your risk for developing this disease.
  • People with alcohol use disorder may engage in drinking alone, drinking more to feel the effects of alcohol, becoming violent or angry when asked about their drinking habits, eating poorly, neglecting personal hygiene, missing work or school because of drinking, being unable to control alcohol intake, making excuse to drink, continuing to drink even when legal, social, or economic problems develop, and giving up important social, occupation, or recreational activities because of alcohol use.
  • Hi everyone, I am the representative of group 3. And I am going to share about the symptoms of alcoholism. Symptoms of alcohol use disorder are based on the behaviors and physical outcomes that occur as a result of alcohol addiction.
  • According to a data from the WHO, it indicates that almost 9% of the Philippine population who are 15 years of age and older (estimated 86 million) have an alcohol use disorder. In addition, 25% of males and 8.3% of females (15 - 85+ years) are heavy episodic drinkers. And another data state that in 2019, 33.3 percent of the surveyed respondents ages 60 to 69 were alcohol drinkers in the Philippines. In the same year, 49.4% of men and 14.8 % of women among the ageing population were alcohol drinkers.
  • Okay. Very good. It can really be shown that you have prepared and read a lot about your task. And now, let me share to you another information that I have known related to alcoholism.
  • The harmful use of alcohol is a causal factor in more than 200 disease and injury conditions. And overall, 5.1% of the global burden of disease and injury is attributable to alcohol. Beyond health consequences, the harmful use of alcohol brings significant social and economic losses to individuals and society at large.
  • It is also estimated that globally around 1.4% of the population have an alcohol use disorder. Worldwide, there are 3 millions death every year which is a result of harmful use of alcohol, this represent 5.3% of all deaths.
  • I hope that by knowing this class, you can save yourself and your family from alcohol abuse disorder which will do no good to you.
