  • The Indus Valley is along the Indus River Valley in the Sindh and Punjab provinces of Pakistan.

  • Wealthy Indus Valley families lived in comfortable houses built around courtyards.
  • Indus Valley houses are usually also made up of bricks
  • Here, we are standing right outside of the toilets
  • Something you might want to know is that most Harappan homes were equipped with toilets that connected to waterproof drains, which conveyed waste water to cesspits or beyond city limits.
  • The Great Bath ispart of a large citadel complex thatwas found in the 1920s during excavations of Mohenjo-daro, one of the main centres of the Indus civilization. The bath is built of fine brickwork
  • The importance of the Great Bath was special religious functions where water was used to purify and renew the well being of the bathers.
  • The Indus Valley religion is polytheistic and is made up of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
  • Seals were to show who owned a sack of grain of that the correct city tax had been paid
  • Seals are also used to symbolize other things. Like animals, and gods
  • The Harappan people used to trade with foreign lands traveling through seas. The seaports found in Harappan civilization state that they were not bound to their own territories. They had traded with Iran and Afghanistan for Minerals, while Lead and Copper were exported from India

  • Trade was important because rare and special foods, materials and other agricultural goods could be traded thus being the major and only booster in the Indus valley economy
