- Anna was born in Berlin with Jewish parents. Anna's life was completely normal. But one day Anna came home from school and it all changed. Anna and her brother Max were busy telling their mum about their day at school and then there was a ringing noise it was the phone Anna's mum rushed to go answer it.

- Anna followed her mum to her parents room. Anna saw her mum's bright red face and her sick dad looking worse than ever. Anna's mum sat Anna and Max down and told them that if Hitler wins elections their passports will be taken by the Nazis and they will send them to a concentration camp.

- Anna's mum told them that because their dad was famous they would be one of the first families to be taken by the Nazis. because it wasn't safe for Anna and her family to live in Germany they would have to move and start their life as refugees...

- Anna's dad quickly got better and made a long journey to Switzerland in search for a place to live. just before the elections Anna, Max and their mum went to Switzerland to start a new life in a new home.
- Hitler won the elections but luckily They were in Switzerland already. Anna's life is back to normal again but Anna's dad isn't earning enough money. One day Anna's dad got offered a job in France so her parents spent a week in France to decide if they should go or not. But in the end Anna moved to France.
- It's a struggle for them to learn and understand french. But after a while they are speaking fluent french and Anna and Max are top in their class. After the holidays the classes get changed and anna gets moved up a class.
