Storyboard Text

  • Ordinary World
  • Approach to the In-most Cave
  • Reward
  • In the Ordinary World, Bilbo stays in his little Hobbit Hole most of the time, while the rest of that time is spent right near is Hobbit Hole outside. This is the first part of The Hero's Journey, and is one of the most casual of the 12. Bilbo also never really allows anyone to come into his little Hobbit Hole, as everything in there he just needs.
  • When the Approach to the In-most Cave takes action, the hero and his group need shelter from something, and decide the shelter in a nearby cave that might lead to trouble in the near future. In Bilbo's situation, him and the group were hiding from the Stone Golems and from the great, powerful thunderstorm. They discover a nearby cave, and they decide to shelter there for the night. But then they were captured by the Goblins.
  • In Reward, the hero obtains un-imaginable treasures such as gold and silver and magical stones. These things will sometimes be used later in the book, or will be very important to one specific character from the book or movie. In this case, the Arkenstone, which belonged to one of Thorin Oakenshield's greater relatives, was very special to him. The gold and silver that Bilbo brought back with him was used to buy back all of his belongings from townsfolk because most of his items were auctioned because the townsfolk thought Bilbo was dead.
