Storyboard Text
- Lily gets into an argument with Rosaleen over why she decided to go to Tiburon. Rosaleen is Lillie’s caretaker who is going with Lily to Tiburon. Rosaleen had gotten into some trouble and Lily helped Rosaleen get out of trouble and escape with her to Tiburon. Rosaleen is now questioning why Lily decided to go Tiburon just based on reading the cities name on the back of a picture. Lily must now adjust in order to deal with the pressure of running away while also dealing with an angry Rosaleen.
- "Let me get this straight. You picked Tiburon cause your mother had a picture with that town written on the back—that's it?" (Pg.66)
- Yup
- Lily has never seen her mother before and she has never thought of the fact that Rosaleen might have seen her mother. Rosaleen tells Lily that she has seen her mother before. Lily must now adjust to the fact that Rosaleen has seen her mother and could help explain a lot of the little things that she doesn’t know about her mother.
- "I had no idea Rosaleen had ever seen my mother." (Pg.70)

- Lily and Rosaleen are looking for a place to stay in Tiburon and Lily starts questioning why they can't stay in a motel even after the civil rights act was passed. Rosaleen tells her that even after the act was passed nobody is going to let a colored woman stay in a motel. Lily must adjust to the fact that they can't stay in a motel and must find another place to stay in Tiburon.
- "...any place that will take a colored woman. I don't care if she's the Virgin Mary, nobody's letting her stay if she's colored." (Pg.76)
