- Summary
- Our Main unnamed character, the Narrator who's referred to as the Invisible Man is trying to find his place in the world, seeking values and expectations within his social group(the Brotherhood), but gets rejected because of his race as a black man, and his POV of identity, or understanding it.
- As you can see I'm invisible because nobody wants to look at me while I'm black, and my inner identity. That's why I'm viewed as an Illusion.
- Exposition
- BAH! This is utterly dreadful! You are disgraceful!
- Let me get you back to campus right away Mr. Norton.
- On an afternoon during the Narrator's Junior year in college, the Narrator takes Mr. Norton to Jim Trueblood's cabin, who's dreadfully shocked to hear the secrets of black life.
- I've been doing a lot of crazy stuff
- Dr. Bledsoe expels the narrator about the dark side of black life and is at the hospital after having a fight in College. After recovery, he joins a group with Brother Jack who offers him a job.
- Hello there! I'm brother Jack. Would you like to accept a job in the Brotherhood?
- Oh Yes! I'll definitely accept it
