- David was a shepherd boy, who protected his sheep from wolves and other animals that may attack them.
- At the time King Saul was the king of Israel.
- Also at the time, the Israelites and Philistines were enemies, who prepared for battle
- But the Philistines had a humungous army that included the giant known as Goliath.Goliath was tall and powerful.
- Goliath wanted power, so he wanted a man to fight to show his power. Goliath made a deal to the chosen man, David..If Goliath won the fight, then the Israelites would be his slaves.. but if David won, then Goliath and the Philistines would be his slaves
