Brit Bennett conveys how observant Stella is when it comes to her husband, Blake. She presents how in love Stella is with him.
Brit Bennett describes how the twins look, "Twin girls, creamy skin, hazel eyes, wavy hair" (Bennett 6). Bennett displays how the twins fit into the way of Mallard. She reveals how they are black girls of lighter skin but could pass for white if they chose to.

Stella talks with Loretta about her past, "My folks are long gone," she said. "They're..." (Bennett 180). Stella reveals to Loretta that all of her family had died in the past. Brit Bennett conveys that Stella is a good liar as she is able to convince Loretta to believe her make believe past.
