- Adela Strangeworth, a respected 71-year-old with blue eyes, speaks to some tourists about her familial connection to the town. The tourists ask for a flower, however, Ms.Strangeworth believes the roses should not leave her town, so she declines.
- "This house, right here. My family has lived here for better than a hundred years. Mygrandmother planted these roses, and my mother tended them, just as I do."
