Tim O'Brien and Rat Kiley are out in an old rainy forest. Rat is resting while TIm hears sudden and unusual noises coming from strange places. Tim says, "Do you hear that racket?".
Could they be real?
NO YOU FREAKING MORON!!!!!!!!!!
Tim O'Brien turns in awe as he sees ghostly figures in the end of the forest. He heres drums, orchestras, bustling movement. Tim is shaking, and responds, "What in the world!?"
It must be my imagination.
Many of the mysterious figures are doing usual activities of orchestras and a large gathering of people and seen in the distance. Fog closes in, as they people dissipate into the memory of the soldiers.
Tim O'Brien complains to Rat saying that he is all full of it. As all the clatter of the forest seems to be a figment of Rat's imagination. It could very well be, but it just seems to be too real.
Rat looks off into the distance. However, nobody is there. A derelict space of empty sounds and noises full of emptiness. The shower of rain is the only comfort to the unending message that the soldiers cradle.
Tim and Rat descend further away into the misty forest, hoping that the strange sight, was only a grasp of attention to supplement the severe loneliness of a cold rainy exercise in the infinite forest. No one to this day, will ever experience what these two men did on that long day ago.
