- Hey mom! Want to know what I learned In class today? The difference and similarities between discharge and layoff!
- Hmm, sure! Sounds interesting!!
- Discharge is when you are terminated when you have HORRIBLE work behavior! Layoff is temporary or permanent reduction of employees!
- Yeah! And the difference is that layoff is not caused my inappropriate behavior
- That's so cool!
- Actually, Yeah I do! Changes in the economy happen when businesses expand because consumers are buying more products
- This means that there is less money for workers which means consumer spending/demand does down and so does economy
- When more workers are employed, they have more money to spend. If prices for products go up, consumers will go down.
- Well I bet you don't know how economic cycles affect job opportunities
- AND... the four broad categories of human resources activities are...
- Planning and Staffing, performance management, Compensation/benefits, and Employee Relations!
- What are they??? I'm excited!!
- The difference between salary/wages and benefits is that salary is a payment of a specific amount of money each week/every two weeks/monthly!
- And a benefits are compensation in forma other than direct payment
- Wowww!!
- Two examples for benefits are vacation and retirement plans.
- Wow! That's so interesting thanks for telling me your knowledge
