- LOVE IS THE HIGHER LAW by: David Levithan
- Claire, who Is one of the main characters sitting in her homeroom class on 9/11. She is very concerned about finding her brother, who is in elementary school down the block and her mother during this this scary time.
- can I please go get my brother. This is an emergency
- In this scene Jasper slept through the attack of the world trade center. He lives in Brooklyn and is also one of the main characters. His parents called him from Korea to see if the was ok. Many people called him to see if he was ok because they knew he was near by. When he went outside there was a lot of paper that had fallen from the World trade center
- Peter who was the 3rd main character was waiting outside of tower record store right as the attack happened. The store had not opened yet. All of the sudden paper was falling out of of the sky. Tower records is located downtown Manhattan. He became frozen when the first tower collapsed.
- Did the plane go through the other side of the building? are people getting out?
- Jasper had met Peter the night before at a party. Claire could not go back to her apartment building since it was to close to the World Trade Center. After 911 Claire and Jasper met at a concert and were talking about where they were on 9/11. They all got to know each other. Also, over the year they kept talking and saying how they felt about 9/11.
- A year later, they all saw each other at Claires birthday party. Due to the events and the experience of 9/11 that they shared, they decided to change some of their goals. Claire and Peter were going to Arkansa for a week to help build houses. Jasper was going to Korea, to help care for his grandmother.
