- In the beginning of the story Milo notices a package with his name and opens it to see "one genuine turnpike tollbooth, three precautionary signs, one map, one book of rules and traffic regulations".

- This is the Humbug. You can't trust a word he says.
- PHRASES
- In this part of the story Milo needs to get out of Expectations. Milo says, "i need to get out of Expectations, but fast. Talking to a guy like that would get me nowhere for sure'.
- I never realized it would be that simple.
- In this part of the story, Milo reached the Doldrums where he meets the Lethargarians. On of the Lethargarians states "The Doldrums, my friend, are where nothinh ever happens and nothing ever changes".
- In this part of the story Milo makes it to the market in Dictionopolis. Milo states, " I can't believe it. Did you ever see so many words?"
- In this part of the story the Humbug tells them how Milo can rescue the Princesses Rhyme and Reason. The King states, " You will face many dangers on your journey but fear not as I can give you something for your protection."
- In th eend of the story Milo, Tock and the Humbug are on their way to rescue RHyme and Reaosn when the HUmbug states, "Something dreadful is going to happen to us. I can feek it in my bones." when they heard a loud noise.
