Storyboard Text
Donalbain.
A foolish thought, to say a sorry sight.
Who lies i'th second chamber?
This is a sorry sight
Macbeth calls out to Lady Macbeth from within
There's one did laugh in's sleep, and one cried "Murder!"
They did wake each other, but they did say their prayers, and addressed them again to sleep.
There are two lodged together
I am afraid they have awaked, and 'tis not done. Th'attempt and not the deed confound us. Hark!
Sleep no more!
List'ning their fear, I could not say "Amen" when they did say "God bless us!"
Methought I heard a voice cry
Macbeth does murder sleep!
King Duncan
I laid their daggers ready; had Duncan not resembled my father as he slept, I had done't
One cried "God bless us!" and "Amen!" the other, as they had seen me with these hangman's hands.
Consider it not so deeply.
Lady Macbeth's Father
Banquo and Fleance arrive at Macbeth's castle
But wherefore could I not pronounce "Amen"? I had most need of blessing, and "Amen" stuck in my throat.
Fleance, give me my sword. Who's there?
A friend!
These deeds must not be thought of; it will make us mad.
V.S.
Banquo is not interested in participating in immoral acts with Macbeth, and bids Macbeth goodnight
Macbeth attempts to share his plan with Banquo
Macbeth shall sleep no more
Sleep no more!
When we can entreat an hour to service, we could spend it in some words upon that business, if you would grant the time.
I shall be counselled.
Thanks, sir. The like to you
At your kind'st leisure. So I lose none in seeking to augment it, but still keep my bosom franchised and allegiance clear.
Open Act 2: Scene 1
Good repose the while!
Still it cried to all the house
Glamis hath mudered sleep, and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more!
