- The kingdom of kalinga was the last part of India to resist Ashoka's control. In the mid-200s BCE Ashoka led his army against kalinga
- The Empire
- All of your live are important and i promise you will live a good life!
- Ashoka became remorseful as he saw the destruction the war has caused. He later saw a Buddhist monk mediating in a street amid the chaos and destruction.
- Spreading Buddhism

- Ashoka encouraged his subjects to become followers of Buddhism, but he allowed religious freedom in his empire.
- Death
- Ashoka's empire experienced peace and prosperity under his rule. Ashoka proclaimed the sacredness of all human life and set an example through charitable acts toward the poor to try and relieve their suffering.
- He reportedly sent missionaries as far as Sri Lanka, Syria, Egypt, China, and Greece to spread the message of Buddha. This helped extend Buddhism beyond the Indian continent.
- When Ashoka died in about 238 BCE, the Mauryan Empire crumbled. However, his conversion to Buddhism was an important event. Without him it is possible the Buddhism would not be as widely practiced as it is today.
