- Beginning Stage
- Childbearing Stage
- Parenting Stage
- This stage starts with the couple getting married. They assume roles of partners and begin to get used to the married life with daily routines and responsibilities.
- Launching Stage
- The childbearing stage starts with expected parenthood. When they have their first child that is where there attention goes.
- Mid-Years Stage
- The family must be reorganized to fit the school aspect of the kids lives, and each child has separate needs.
- Aging Stage
- The couple has to reorganize the family as children move out and pursue their own goals.
- The children have all moved out and the parents are alone again which leaves them time to focus on their relationship. The couple may become grandparents too.
- The couple retires and has more time for new hobbies and grandchildren.
