- The Union will be taking action about the southern states succeedingbut we should not become enemies to one another
- Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina all secededfrom the union and all of the delegatesfrom these states met up to form a new government and nation called the Confederate States of America. Jefferson Davis became president and the Delegatesblamed the union for them seceding because they didn't listen to them.
- Everyone's reaction to the south seceding was different , some southerners were glad the south seceded so that they can keep there liberties and freedom but some were upset for leaving the strong union. People in the union reactions were different also, some people were glad they left so that there didn't have to be more compromises for slavery and others wanted the union to stick together.
- Abraham Lincoln won the election and people were worried about what he would say and do because if he fought the confederacy then the rest of the slave states would leave the union. In Lincolns inaugural address he talked about how seceding was not allowed and that the land is still the property of the union but Lincoln also talked about how they are still friends and should not become enemies.
