Red blood cells have a protein called hemoglobin. Hemoglobin picks up oxygen from the lungs and then gives and brings it to the rest of the body.
Red blood cells, also known as RBC looks like a flattened basketball.
RBC live for 120 days and everyday the body makes new ones to replace the dead ones. 45% of your blood is RBC
Some tell the body that it's been invaded. Some make and produce chemicals to fight the invaders. Some kill and surround the organisms.
Only about 1% of your blood is white blood cells.
White blood cells also known as WBC are bigger than RBC . They are known as the "Disease Fighters"
Platelets are tiny round cells. They look like plates too! The function of the platelets is to form blood clots when you get a cut.
Also a temporary plug would form in the wound and that helps it to stop bleeding. Less than 1% of your blood is made up of platelets.
Plasma is a yellowish liquid. It's 55% of your blood. Plasma carries nutrients, hormones, and proteins through the body.
Plasma also carries away cell waste and gets rid ofit. Hormones carry messages throughout your body, tells it when and what to do.
