In 1732, George Washington was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia. His parents are Augustine Washington, and his second wife, Mary Ball. George lived on a plantation for most of his life.
George Washington was unanimously elected as first President of the United States in 1789.
George Washington traveled to Barbados with his half-brother Lawrence in an attempt to cure the latter of a respiratory illness. George contracted smallpox while on the island.
On 1754, George led 150 soldiers into a battle to regain Virginia claim of the land. During battle, they had to retreat to Fort Necessity. There, he surrendered which embarrassed him and so he resigned his commission.
George Washington passed away on December 14, 1799 from a throat infection called epiglottitis in his bedroom at Mount Vernon. He was surrounded by close friends and his loving wife Martha. (Who are not show in this picture).
