Classification of AnimalsSC.3.L.15.1Heather Hinson6252665
Scientists organize living organisms in many ways!
They ask questions like:- Do they have a backbone?-How does the organism breath?-What does their body look like?
Pretend you are a scientist. How would you organize us?
Scientists classify us into vertebrates, like me, who have a backbone and skeleton!
Some invertebrates, like snails, have shells.
And invertebrates like me! I'm a worm with no backbone or skeleton.
Five classifications of vertebrates: 1) Fish2) Amphibians3) Reptiles4) Mammals5) Birds
Amphibians live on land and water, have moist skin, and lay eggs in water!
Reptiles have dry scales, lay leather shelled eggs, and are cold blooded.
Birds are warm blooded and have feathers,
with hollow bones, and lay hard shell eggs.
Fish live in water and have wet scales,
breathe with gills, and sometimes lay eggs!
What do we all have in common? We lay eggs!
Mammals have hair and are warm blooded!
They also give birth to live offspring and produce milk for them!
Now you know all about the types of organisms!
