- Chief of the sky pierced a hole in the sky and shoved the snow and ice through it, that is how there are such high mountains that meet the sky. (Mount shasta)
- When he was about halfway to the valley below, he began to put his finger to theground here and there, here and there. Wherever his finger touched, a tree grew.Snow melted in his footsteps and rivers were flowing.
- The sky spirit broke off pieces of sticks and threw them into the river; which turned into otters, beavers, and fish. He blew on fallen leaves from trees and made birds. He made all the living animals this way, the biggest being grizzly bears.
