  • Sexual and Asexual Reproduction
  • In sexual reproduction, 2 parents are involved. Haploids find each other, and create an organism that has both of the parent's DNA. They are genetically diverse, and all animals and humans use this sort of reproduction.
  • Asexual reproduction is a bit different. There are many ways of producing asexually. Budding is an example. A special sea animal, called the Hydra, goes through budding. A smaller version of itself, called a bud, starts growing until it pops off. It has the exact same DNA, so it's basically a clone.
  • Vegetative Propagation is a form of asexual reproduction occurring in plants in which a new plant grows from a fragment of the parent plant or a specialized reproductive structure.
  • Binary Fission is another form of asexual reproduction. It is when a single-celled organism (prokaryote) doubles the DNA inside of it and splits in two. It works kind of like mitosis.
  • Regeneration is also a type of asexual reproduction. It's when a part of an animal is cut off and that part continues to live, becoming a new living being. Worms are an example of this.
