- The king was in need of money due to his debt so he placed a tax on land.
- Buy landFace a tax
- Commoners(middle class and lower class) wanted a voice in government and a constitution. They took matters into their own hands and formed the National Assembly.
- Take the tax.

- The king rejected the National Assembly so they moved to the tennis court and vowed to not give up wanting a constitution. They formed the "Tennis Court Oath".

- The Bastille which was a jail had fallen due to an attack by a crowd. This represented the loss of power and control the king had over his country. The attack became out of control and with no strong leader to help the "Great Fear" happened.
- The king was sentenced for treason and executed. His death caused the beginning of the Revolutions dark period. The Committee of Public Safety was formed the same year.
- After the Committee of Public Safety was set up, there was a Reign of Terror because of the unfair convictions and executions. The revolution stirred away from its democratic government and introduced the rise of a new soldier/leader, Napoleon Bonaparte
