- I don't like the way the church are ruling things
- Henry and Thomas were very good and close friends.The king trusted him so much that he made him chancellor
- As well as owning a lot of lands the church had their own laws so the king decided to make Thomas the new arch Bishop
- He told him about his new job and he was frilled
- Thomas stopped wearing nice clothes and drinking but spent time praying and doing stuff right.
- When the king told Thomas to change the rules he refused and they had and argument.
- Thomas fled to France for six years and came back soon after
