Storyboard Text

  • The bubonic plague was also called the black plague because it turned the skin of its victims black from there flesh was rotting. When walking down the streets of a city it smelled horrible because of all the rotting flesh and human fesses.
  • how did it work? to start a flea would bite a rat infecting the rat with the plague then a rat would bite a human. once the human was infected they spread to other humans. some effects of the plague were it attacks your immune system weakening it. then begin rotting the flesh while the human was still alive. So you could be sitting on the side of the street watching your body rot and cant do anything about it but sit and watch.
  • the most common people that got infected were the poor and the very high class. because when you were in the high class you were usually very fat because you got to eat all you want and never did anything outside. Also the poor got infected because they didn't do much all day and had a higher chance to get infected by a rat without knowing it. The people who had the highest chance to survive was the middle class because they got exercise and were usually the most healthy.
  • the doctors thought that the plague was in the blood. so some common treatments used were leaches and blood letting. they would out leaches on the skin to suck out blood. They would also cut the skin and let blood drain into a bowl of some sort and throw it out thinking it would cure them.
  • Plague-infected corpses were catapulted over walls.#160;Venetians plotted to distill deadly liquid from swollen lymph nodes. Japanese planes sprinkled a rainfall of fleas infected with the plague.
  • the plague doctors wore a mask with a long nose. Because they put herbs and spices in the end of the nose to help drown out the smell of the rotten odors.
