- Alai finds a strange sheet of paper on Ender's bed
- This doesn't make any sense. I am too young to get promoted.Life was just getting good and now they do this?
- Alai gives the sheet of paper to ender
- I understand them, you are the best of us. Maybe they just wanted to teach you everything as fast as possible
- I don't want to go
- The paper turns out to be a transfer notice
- Salaam
- Ender is confused of why the b people running the battle school decided to promote him while he was so young. He is also upset by the fact that he is being transferred right as his life in battle school is becoming livable.
- Ender tells Alia that he doesn't want to leave and Alai tells Ender that he is the best of all the other children in his launch group.
- Alai kisses Ender on the cheek to comfort him and whispers in his ear Salaam. Ender does not know what salaam means however he understands the importance of it to Alai
