- ClimaxAt the very end of the ceremony, after everyone had been called, Jonas was called to the stage. when he went up they told him that he had been selected to be the Receiver of memory, which was a very important job. While he was standing on stage he noticed the people in the crowd change for just a second.
- Falling Action Jonas begins his training with The Giver, in this time, he is given many good memories like colors, snow, sunshine, love, and animals, but he is also shown many horrible painful things like war. One day The Giver decides to let him watch the release of a twin. After discovering the process of release Jonas wants to do something to change the community, so him and The Giver start planning.
- I'm going to give you snow.

- ResolutionAfter many days of planning. The December ceremony comes. Jonas' plan was to run away. He would take his bike, food given to him by The Giver, and leave. If he left all the memories would be brought out to the community. Including the painful ones. On the day he was going to escape, he discovered Gabriel would be getting released. In order to stop this, he took Gabriel and his father's bike, and kept going far away. The process was long, hard, and dangerous but at last they managed to reach a new community. One with music, color, and love.
