  • After School Part 2
  • The Next Day
  • Misinformation is discovered by students after school. The students share this misinformation regarding COVID-50 (the new strand of Covid that is 50x more harmful than Covid-19 and deadly to anyone 50+ years old) online with other students on TikTok.
  • Arrival
  • More students continue to read and share the false information from their homes. As the misinformation spreads on TikTok, other students begin to share on additional social media sites.
  • Hello, Media Literacy!
  • Anxiety, panic, and even excitement are some of the feelings students have on the bus, following the spread of COVID-50 online. Many of the students plan to ask their teachers about it at arrival.
  • It's Recess At Last
  • Once students arrive in homeroom, chaos erupts. Many students are in tears, others are running around in a panic, some are even writing cards for older relatives.
  • The homeroom teacher, aware of COVID-50, is able to calm the class. Once students are in control of their emotions, the teacher begins her new lesson in media literacy. Using knowledge, truth, and a calm demeanor, students are able to discover that COVID-50 does not actually exist. The teacher engages students in additional activities that encourage them to reflect and analyze information found online and provide them with the ability and experience to think with a critical lense.
  • After their much needed lesson in media literacy, students are able to enjoy their school day and each other at recess. Their teacher decides that weekly lessons in media literacy will be worthwhile to her 21st century students.
