- We are gathered today to begin this trial. Joe del Rey, biology teacher in Nashville National school decided to sue the education department of Tennessee due to Butler Act which claims that Darwin's theory should be banned.
- Your Honor, I came here to express my will to improve my students' situation. Indeed, Darwin's works have been banned due to religious issues. I claim that this book should be studied since it's a great example in the history of how science has evolved throughout time. Moreover, natural selection partially explains the animal evolution, sciientifically speaking. I hope you'll listen to my resquest.
- But, Your Honor, our laws are really simple: we are not allowed to teach any therories that are denying the history of the divine creation of man as taught by the Bible. The plaintiff knew that when he instilled to a class full of children an other way of thinking than the thought of the almighty God. Consequently, Darwin's theory is completely illegal at the eyes of the government .
