Storyboard Text

  • That is very strange, seen as our insecticide invade works by getting into the bugs molecules. These bugs however might have a beneficial mutation because you have used this chemical since the 1990s.
  • Why are there still bed bugs? We have used this insecticide since the 1990s and it worked then
  • This mutation became more popular due to the environmental conditions and how this trait was resistant to the invade. This trait was heritable and got distributed so the bed bugs can still live.
  • UAHA I found out why some bed bugs can survive the invade! There was change in the bugs genetic code which made those bugs survive and reproduce making that trait beneficial and get passed down through natural selection.
  • I know that some bed bugs had a mutation to begin with and this mutation became very common after the invaded because this trait was beneficial and allowed the bed bugs to survive and reproduce. Making the bed bugs survive and stay here.
  • So what did you come across in your lab? Why are these bugs not dying?
