- The townspeople are excited to go to church and see Mr. Hopper.
- Mommy, when I grow up I want to be venerable like Mr. Hooper!
- I'm so excited to hear Mr. Hopper's sagacious preach.
- Mommy, I'm scared.
- Mr. Hooper preaches with a black veil that confuses the townspeople.
- Everyone has secret sins.
- How impertinent of Mr. Hooper wearing that veil!
- Mr. Hopper's crape is a vagary that scares me.
- Mr. Hooper directs a funeral using the black veil.
- This sorrow makes my hands tremulous.
- That indecorous veil has brought evil to our wedding!
- Mr. Hooper directs a wedding where people saw the veil as evil.
- We're ruined!
- Never! Elizabeth the time to cast away my veil has not come.
- Hopper and Elizabeth have a fight. Elizabeth asks Hooper to remove the veil but he refuses. Hooper and Elizabeth break up.
- You're obstinacy is the end of us.
- Lift that veil or we're done!
- Mr. Hooper warns everyone to stop judging his decision for wearing a veil and start considering their own sins. He passes away with his black veil on.
- Can I take off this black veil of yours before the veil of eternity is lifted?
- Never! Not on earth! There is a time to come but mine shall stay forever in this world.
