Storyboard Text

  • Well, there are two parts of heterogeneous mixtures, suspension and colloids. A suspension is when you can separate the visible particles. For example, when we separate the egg yolk from the egg white that is a suspension. A colloid is two visible particles that cannot be separated. For example, when we add the baking soda to the water, you cannot separate the different particles. Also, light is not able to pass through it, making it a colloid.
  • Perfect, however the milk that we will be using is not a heterogeneous mixture because when you're baking people tend to use whole mil that does not have as many ingredients, so it is a solution.
  • An example of a homogeneous mixture is cake and a heterogeneous mixture would be stew. Another example of a heterogeneous mixture is milk.
  • An element is something that can not be broken down into a simple substance, and a compound is something when two or more elements combine. Both elements and compounds are pure substances.
  • What is an element and compound?
