Storyboard Text

  • One major theme of The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street by Rod Serling is that Mankind is its own worst enemy. One reason for this to be true is when the people of maple street were so fast to turn on Les Goodman once his car started up on its own. This support the theme in the way that the people of maple street where so quick to accuse the Goodmans to clear their own name. This in turn escalated the situation out of hand and causing their own problems. Another reason is when charlie shoots Pete van horn without confirming his identity this adds to the theme by proving that they are the one harming themselves because they did actual physical harm and by killing Pete van horn Charlie becomes enemy's with the people of maple street. The last reason is when all of their fears build up it turns into chaos with people grabbing weapons then its revealed that the all the aliens did was turn some of the power off and the people of maple street attacked each other this proves that they are the reasons that this happened and if they trusted each other the out come could have been different however then have proven they are their own enemy's. In conclusion the people of maple street turned their distrust into actions and became their own enemies.
