  • "Make sure to stretch out your legs ladies. Lots of running left to do today."
  • Hello, I'm Jeryn. This is Sam and Coach Tom. Coach Tom is having Sam stretch before the soccer game starts as a way of injury prevention and making sure she is warm and ready to play.
  • "My knee hurts so bad! I can't put pressure on it."
  • During the game Sam took a wrong step and injured her leg. The athletic trainer , Jen who was on the sidelines comes out to assess Sam's injury. Sam said she heard a pop while running and complains about pain in her knee, which appears to be swollen. Jen realizes it is more than likely a torn ACL and calls Jen's parents to take her to the E.R.
  • "Where are you feeling pain?"
  • While at the E.R., Sam is treated by Dan; an emergency medical specialist. Due to her conditions he has decided that she will need to have surgery done in order to help her knee.
  • "It seems surgery would be the best option."
  • A bit after surgery, Sam was instructed by Sam to go into physical therapy with Leina, a physical therapist (PT). Sam will do physical therapy for about 12 weeks. Leina will have her doing things to slowly rehabilitate her knee / leg. This includes things such as leg raises, squats, heel slides, etc.
  • Good form! I am here if it too difficult.
  • Now that Sam has been cleared to do so by her P.T. Sam will get back into the weight room with her team and strength and conditioning coach Mat. Matt will give Sam workouts that are specialized to Sam's recovery and help her strengthen her leg.
  • Here, you'll do this today while your teammates, deadlift."
  • After a long 6-9 month recovery, Sam is now cleared to go back and play soccer by her strength and conditioning coach and the althetic trainer.
  • "I'm so glad to be back, having an injury was no fun at all, but definitely something to learn from."
