- Odysseus presents this by being cunning. While being trapped by the cyclops, instead of murdering him to escape, he finds a way to get out without killing the cyclops. Homer 1118-1119

- Odysseus travels from calypso and attempts to go back to his home and wife. Homer 1109
- Odysseus is already a hero, as he is a king and is worshiped.
- Odysseus and and his men fight the cyclops by ramming a wooden stake through his eye after drugging him. "straight forward they sprinted, lifted it, and rammed it deep into his crater eye" Homer 1118-1119
