- Juniper had dealt with mental health problems in the past, but she now worries that being away from home at a college in the Big Apple would only make things worse for her.
- RISING ACTION/CLIMAX
- Settling in to her dorm and finding her place at NYU, June sees that it may not be so bad moving across the country.
- FALLING ACTION
- Realizing how happy she is now that she is away from home, she feels overwhelming guilt because of how much better she is doing as she isn't with her family.
- RESOLUTION
- In attempts to get to the root of the problem, June decides that she will go back home for Thanksgiving break.
- June cuts off her old life (as she did when she was a freshman in high school), and almost immediately feels relief from letting go of what was holding her back.
- June's mental health has been better than it has ever been, and she is happy to say that the saying, "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb" is indeed true; the family she chose means more to her than the one she was born into.
