- The Spatacist uprising was an armed uprising that took place in Berlin from 5 to 12 January 1919. It was lead by Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg. With the abolation of the german empire the Spartacist movemnt wanted to establish a council republic similar to the one by the Bolchseviks.

- The killings of 15 January triggeredserious unrest and uprisings throughout the German Reich. Gustav Noske deployed Freikorps and Rechswehr units against them and against the soviet republics setup in several major German cities. All were violently put down, The fighting was similar to that in Berlin and resulted in a total of about 5,000 deaths,including several political murders of leading representatives of the left.
