Dali's parents supported his artistic talent from a young age. His parents built him an art studio before he went to art school. By 1919, he had his first public exhibition, at the Municipal Theatre of Figueres.

Salvador attended drawing school at Colegio de Hermanos Maristas and the Instituto in Figueres, Spain in 1916, and in 1922 Dalí enrolled at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid. Dali was suspended in 1923 and eventually expelled from the academy in 1926.
Family Experiences
Dali's wife, Gala, was his inspiration and Muse. Salvador Dali also was influenced by Sigmund Freud, Picasso, Diego Velazquez, Joan Miro, Paul Eluard, and Magritte.
By 1930, Dalí had become a famous figure of the Surrealist movement. In 1942, he wrote an autobiography called, The Secret Life of Salvador Dalí . From 1960 to 1974, Dalí was dedicated to creating the Teatro-Museo Dalí (Dalí Theatre-Museum) in Figueres.
Dali had an older brother that died when he was five years old and a younger sister. His dad was strict and heavy handed with Dali while his mother was gentle. His mother died when he was 16.
