- The history of basketball began with its invention in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts
- basketball was originally played with a soccer ball and peach baskets,
- My name is James Naismit a Canadian physical education instructor i invented basketball

- My school ask me to create a sport that students could play indoors during the winter
- The first basketball game had peach baskets as the goals. That is why the sport was named basketball. The metal hoop was not invented until 1906.
