  • Hi, my name is Cristian, and today we're gonna be learning about the cell cycle.
  • Explanation on why the cell cycle is important to understand
  • Now you may wonder why is it important to learn about the cell cycle?
  • Well the cell cycle helps us understand how cells grow meaning how we grow. It is also helpful when treating people with cancer as we are able to better understand why cancer happens and how to find a way to fight it
  • G0Phase
  • Interphase
  • Cells in g0 phase don't prepare to duplicate or grow.
  • Cells spend most of their time in what is called interphase where the cells grow and prepare to divide
  • G1 Phase is the growing phase for cells
  • Checkpoints are used to make sure that the cells are growing and functioning properly.
  • Hey let us out!
  • Checkpoint
  • G2Phase G1 Phase SPhase

  • Checkpoint
  • G2 Phase is where the cells are rapidly growing and protein synthesis
  •
  • If a cell were to pass unchecked it becomes uncontrolled, meaning the cell will become a cancer cell.
  • S phase is where the DNA reproduction happens
  • Mitosis (Anaphase and Telophase)
  • Anaphase is where the centrosomes retracts the fiber strands at both poles of the cell. The daughter cell is copying it's mother cell's chromosomes and centrosomes. This is the third part of Mitosis.
  • The Final stage of Mitosis is Telophase, the cells are almost about to become two identical cells. The nucleolus reappears and the chromosomes return as chromatins.

  • AHHHHHH I'M ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mitosis (Prophase and Metaphase)
  • Prophase is the first phase in Mitosis. That's when the Nucleolus disappears and the chromatins become chromosomes, and the centrosomes move over to the poles of the cell
  • Metaphase is the second phase in Mitosis, that's when the chromosomes line up in the middle and the fiber strands are attached to the chromosomes.
  • Cytokinesis
  • This is the final stage of the cell cycle. Cytokinesis is where two new identical cells form, the two cells continue on the cell cycle over and over, and hopefully not in G0 phase.
  • We're like twins!
