Storyboard Text

  • In 1517,Iñigo López de Oñaz y Loyola filled his wildest dreams of being a soldier as he was inducted into the Spanish Army. He was only 26 when he was chosen and made him seriously arrogant and naive. Iñigo's egotismlead to him in the future being too big for his boots as his leg would soon get shattered.
  • After being recruited to the Spanish Army, Iñigo was remarkably boastful having excessive pride and talking himself up to all of the ladies at parties. Iñigo was defintely a 'womanizer' and if anyone said anything remotely unkind about him, he would go off because of his acute sensitiveness to insult.
  • Really?
  • Y'know that I'm actually a soldier!
  • On 20 May 1521, the Navarrese were pressuring the Spanish with assistance from some French armed forces. The Spaniards were ready to accept defeat and surrender as they were totally outnumbered but Iñigo fought for glory and he inspired the troops. As a result, the battle became even again until Iñigo was struck down on his left leg by a French cannonball. The Spanish lost inspiration as they had lost their leader and they surrendered. But, the Navarrese admired Iñigo's honourable acts in not surrendering after being outnumbered. As a result, they spared him and sent him back to his home.
  • In While recovering, Iñigo was exceptionally bored and as a result, he decided to read the only two books there, The Life of Christ and The Book of Saints. The so-called 'weird' books actually grew on him and after those months of being in his home, he was inspired to do something special with his life. So, a man with a shattered leg, vowed to follow Jesus' footsteps after a nearly life-ending injury.
  • Book of Saints
  • Life of Christ
  • Wow, what this Jesus guy did is amazing! I am going to be exactly like him!
  • In 1534, Ignatius, Francis Xavier, Peter Faber took up their idea of a new religious order, Society of Jesus to Pope Paul |||. After gargantuan amounts of persuasion, the Pope was convinced and the Society of Jesus was official. They rejoiced in happiness and were set on a conquest in converting many people to Catholicism.
  • I believe I speak for all of the Catholics in saying that a new religious order is needed.
  • And we will call it The Society of Jesus.
