- France's King at the time (Louis XVI) was despised by his own people. He was an absolute monarch that was known for increasing taxes in the colonies.

- Louis XVI's actions enraged people in the colonies. These men named the Enlighteners decided to end Louis XVI's funny business.
- I protect everyone's life, liberty, and property with this lock!
- Voltaire, Montesquieu, and John Locke (The Enlighteners) showed up at the King's door.
- I balance out the government's branches equally
- Voltaire is a civilized man. He separates the government from Church using power from his finger.
- John Locke is a wise man. He uses his strong lock to maintain everyone's natural rights.
- Montesquieu is a lawful and reliable man. He has a variety of powers that separate the government's power.
