- So glad you ask son. What happens with fire is called a chemical reaction. Let's see what this is.
- A chemical reaction is when the composition of a substance is changed. The molecules are broken and rearranged into new and different ones.
- Ahhh cool. That's our next topic in class, right now we are learning about chemical bonding in class!
- That's great. What do you know about chemical bonding?
- Ionic Bond: It is an attraction where one atom transfers one or more electrons to the other.
- I know that a chemical bond is an attraction between two or more atoms. One positive and one negative. Also, there are ionic bonds and covalent bonds
- Covalent Bond: An attractions that occurs when two atoms share electrons between them, so they are complete.
