  • In 1803 the US bought the Louisiana Territory from France for $15 million dollars. Some in the US thought Texas was a part of the land they bought from France. This made Spain angry because Spain did not want to give up any land it claimed to the USA. It also made some Americans angry because they wanted as much land as possible.
