- Their feathers are so red, they made them look like they're on fire. They dance in the lake as their cries fulfill the air.imagery and simile

- Melanie is locked up in a booth lostening to a teaching machine as she daydreams of flamingos. She really wants to go to the Natural Park so she can see the flamingo's but her parents half promised her.
- Falling Action
- The flamingos here used to be so beautiful but then too many people crowded the lake and it became poisonous.
- Melanie runs away from her dad. She wants to go find the flamingo's. She doesn't see them at first but after a while see finds one! She walks into the water and just as she was about to touch the flamingo her dad yells at her to leave. She doesn't listen and she touches the flamingo but it falls into the lake. Then she realizes it was a statue...
- Resolution
- Goodbye...
- Melanie has an emotional change and she starts crying. She has always wanted to see a flamingo and now her chance is ruined.
- Theme/Conflict
- Man, this society is really messed up. If there weren't so much pollution and people in the world, I would actually have a chance to see flamingos.
- The caretaker explains to Melanie that too many people crowded the lake and the water got poisioned. The caretaker said that the flamingo's feathers would catch fire in the sunshine when they lifted their feathers into the air.
- Melanie stops crying and puts the flamingo back where it was. This shows maturity because instead of taking it or throwing it she decides to let others see the flamingo. She thought it looked real from far away so she wanted to let others see it to.
- Melanie knows that the overpoulation and the pollution has ruined her chance to see the flamingos. The theme of this story is overpopulation and pollution.
