- We are too sick to carry on dear.😢
- Chief Wu, chief of southern china, and one of his two wives got very sick and soon "took to their beds". Which left Yeh-Shen, one of his children, an orphan. Since Wu had two wives she went on to live with them.
- Yeh-Shen soon grew up to be a beautiful young girl, on the other hand , her step-sister did not. Her step-mother didn't like this so, she gave Yeh-Shen all of the most difficult tasks to complete.
- Fish!Fish! Here's some food.
- Yeh-Shen one day captured and raised a fish all while keeping it a secret from her mother because it was her only friend.
- What! I cannot believe this nonsense ! She must be punished at once!😡
- One day, Yeh-Shen's step-mother eventually found out and she couldn't be so furious.
- Mother! Yeh-Shen has been keeping secrets from us about a silly little fish!
- This is her punishment for keeping secrets from me.😈
- Since her step-mother was so angry, she decided to kill the fish and eat it for dinner. All without knowing that it would give Yeh-Shen magical bones.
- OH no! The magical bones are going to be so upset.😭
- At the Festival Yeh-Shen's step-sister noticed her, so she ran home. While running home she was too busy thinking about getting caught and lost a shoe.
- Soon enough, Festival time was approaching. This was a festival for young boys and girls to find love. Yeh-shen wanted to go to the ball so badly but, her step-mother wouldn't allow it. So she asked the magical fish bones and they gave her special shoes and a dress. They only told her the one thing she couldn't do was lose the shoes.
- They may NOT live with us! They treated you so horrible. I won't allow it.
- The Prince found the shoe and immediately knew it was his true love's. So he set out to find who it belonged to. Soon enough he found Yeh-Shen and married her. Since Yeh-Shen's family mistreated her so poorly, he wouldn't allow them to live in the palace. They eventually died in their cave home from it crushing them,
