- John Jingleheimer, and Jacob Schmidt both work at a hospital, dealing with customer service and all the paperwork.
- John Jingleheimer can take care of 3 stacks of paper in 1 hour, while Jacob Shmidt can only do one per hour.

- Also, John Jingleheimer can deal with 12 patients in 1 hour, while Jacob Shmidt can only deal with 6.
- Uhhh, hi, and um... welcome. How can umm...
- John can do both tasks faster than Jacob. This means that John has the absolute advantage over Jacob. Lucky for Jacob though, he has the comparative advantage when it comes to customer service, as he can deal with one customer at the cost of only a 1/6 of a stack of paper. John on the other hand has an opportunity cost of 1/4 of a stack per customer. This means that the hospital is better off and can do more when the labor is divided and John is back specializing in paper and Jacob is specializing on working with the customers. This has a small drawback on their economic interdependence of the fact that if one person can't do their job on any given day, then the other one can't do their job as well anymore.
